WellData recently had an enquiry from the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, a charity which provides a home for unwanted and rescued donkeys.
The Donkey Sanctuary was asking for help converting their ageing Excel database, which held their entire list of members and supporters, to an Access database, to help keep their fundraising efforts streamlined.
The consequences of continuing to use an out dated database can be catastrophic to any business, but to a charity which relies solely on the generosity of it’s members and supporters, this could mean the loss of life saving revenue.
The expertise that the I.O.W Donkey Sanctuary required usually comes at a fairly high price, and we were very aware that the charity worked hard to raise the funds needed to pay for this service. We were in the fortunate position of being able to provide that expertise, and felt that we could make them an offer they couldn’t refuse!
If the Donkey Sanctuary had been charged for the somewhat arduous task of converting their Excel database to Access, and migrating the information across, it would have taken valuable resources from a charity that works hard to raise much needed funds. WellData decided to donate the time of one of our friendly and experienced Database Administrators, and we made sure we understood the exact requirements the Donkey had for it’s new database, and to keep them updated on progress.
Dale, the DBA we assigned to the task, kept in constant contact with the Donkey Sanctuary and kept them updated on progress and fully involved in any decisions. WellData delivered a modern, functional Access database, built to the specification of the Donkey Sanctuary, and Dale worked hard to make sure they were happy with the outcome.
